LIVERPOOL, N.Y. (AP) — A motorcyclist in upstate New York has been hospitalized after being hit and dragged by a tractor-trailer.

WSTM-TV in Syracuse reports (http://bit.ly/2vAJtH4 ) the crash happened in suburban Liverpool around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police say 63-year-old Wegmans delivery driver John Ries, of Rochester, didn't see 27-year-old Steven McGill, of Brewerton, in front of him when he hit the biker.

McGill was wedged underneath the truck and dragged 150 feet before a motorist flagged down Ries.

The victim was treated for injuries to his abdomen and leg at the Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Ries wasn't injured in the crash.

Police issued Ries a ticket for following too closely and McGill was given a ticket for driving out of class.
