Oneida County, NY (WIBX) - Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues is coming to the Greater Mohawk Valley. The shortest player to ever play in the NBA will be a guest speaker at the YMCA's Annual Healthy Kids Day event on Saturday April 16, 2011, in Oneida and Rome.

Organizers say the guest appearance from the NBA star is to promote healthy choices for young people as part of a national movement to fight childhood obesity. At only 5'3, Muggsy Bogues has played for the Charlotte Hornets, Washington Bullets, Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors. The event sponsored by Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield is from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on April 16, at the Rome and Oneida YMCA locations, as well as at the New Hartford School Age Child Care Site.

Muggsy Bogues' speaking engagement in Oneida is from 10:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. Organizers say he will then travel to the Rome Y to speak with basketball clinic participants.
