Utica Police are asking for help from the public getting information about a murder that occurred on Thursday night.

At about 5:30pm on December 26, 2013 officers reported to an accident on Oneida Street and the Parkway.  When they arrived they found the car involved had come to rest on the lawn of a dentist's office and its driver had been shot.

Their investigation revealed that the man had been on Dickinson Street when he got into an argument with someone.  At some time during the fight he was shot.  The victim, 25-year-old Andrew Mateo of Utica, tried to drive away and headed south on Oneida Street.

He was not able to drive far and ended up driving over the median at Pleasant Street, over the east bound land of the Parkway, and onto the nearby lawn.

According to a posting on the Utica Police Department's Facebook page Mateo was brought to St. Elizabeth Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Police are asking that anyone with information call: (315) 223.3510.  Calls may be kept confidential.
