Muslim Head Scarf Ban On Amusement Park Ride Irrupts In Melee

Rye, NY (WIBX) – Park officials at Playland Amusement Park in Rye, NY, enforced a ban on woman wearing traditional head scarfs on certain rides. According to the report, police arrested 15 people related to the dispute that irrupted following the enforcement of the ban. Park officials say they offered the group a refund, however the gesture didn’t go over well and a melee ensued. The Muslim American Society of New York had arranged a daylong event in celebration of the end of Ramadan. When contacted a representative at Playland said, “There is no statement at this time.” Also, calls to the Society have not been returned.
