Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce Board has passed a resolution opposing the proposed hike in the state's minimum wage.

The legislature is considering a measure to increase the minimum wage in New York to $8.50 an hour.

The Chamber says raising the state's minimum wage by 17%, combined with the present economic conditions, would be a hardship for the average small business.

They say the increase would result in a loss of jobs in the state.
