Utica, NY (WIBX) - Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency honored five outstanding individuals at the 2012 Community Champions Luncheon today at MVCC. Area residents, Mindy Dosztan, Craig Grant, Kathleen Rinaldo and Jacquiline Schmidt were recognized for their contributions to the community. They were presented the groups Community Achiever, Builder and Visionary Awards, for the work they do with those less fortunate.

The highest honor, the Treva Wood Community Activist Award, was presented to Jawwaad Rasheed. He was recognized for his work at Oneida County Family Court Support Magistrate, advocating for low-income individuals. The group is also celebrating Community Action Month, as they continue the fight against poverty. During the luncheon, MVCAA was presented a proclamation from Governor Cuomo, proclaiming May 2012, Community Action Awareness Month.
