Utica, NY (WIBX) - The City of Utica and Mohawk Valley Community College have ties to the 2012 London Olympics, thanks to a former student.

Lalonde Gordon attended MVCC during the 2008-2009 school year, where he and his teammates set a school record in the 400-meter relay.

After track season ended, Gordon went to the NJCAA Region 3 Championships, winning the 200 meter run. He also ran as a member of the winning 400 and 1,600 meter relay teams.

In this year's Olympics, Gordon will represent his native country, Trinidad and Tobago. He is participating in the 400-meter run and as a member of the 1,600 meter relay.
