Mohawk Valley Health System is beginning the first phase of the design process to build a new hospital in downtown Utica.

Architects, including the urban planner from NBBJ, will be conducting interviews and information gathering sessions to obtain feedback and guidance regarding the design of the new hospital and its integration with the surrounding downtown area.

“This is a truly exciting milestone and one that many members of our internal and external communities have been looking forward to,” said Scott H. Perra, FACHE, president/CEO of MVHS. “Recently representatives from the project team were in Utica meeting with members of our leadership team to outline the process going forward.”

The next phase of the process includes meetings with workgroups from the many different departments within the healthcare system, as well as a committee that will gather and consider community input during the design and construction phases.
