MVHS Consolidates Inpatient Pediatrics To St. Luke’s Campus

Mohawk Valley Health System is consolidating inpatient pediatric care to its St. Luke's Campus effective on Friday, July 1st.

President and CEO Scott Perra says the consolidation will help support improved clinical quality and provide more efficient services for patients and their families.

Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare has a 14-bed inpatient Pediatric Unit.

Hospital officials say trauma incidents involving children will continue to be seen at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.  Pediatric patients will be triaged and treated where most appropriate. If the patient’s condition requires hospitalization, they may remain at SEMC or be transferred to the appropriate care facility.

Staffing will not be impacted by the consolidation.

A group of local pediatricians recently raised concerns over the quality of pediatric care in the Emergency Room at St. Luke's.
