Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council is meeting to adopt the final version of a five-year strategic plan for regional economic growth. The 21-member committee is hoping to win $130 million in capital funds that's still available in this year's budget. Governor Andrew Cuomo established the Empire State Development program to allow communities across the state to compete for up to $1 billion in available state resources. The deadline to apply is November 14, 2011. Winning bids are also eligible to receive $70 million in Excelsior Tax Credits.

The public is invited to take part in the public portion of the meeting, planned for Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at SUNYIT. Attendees are asked to arrive by 12:30 p.m., in the Student Center, Multi-Purpose Room. Directions to the campus: http://sunyit.edu/directions/.
