The Chicago-born musician says his music is something that blends in different styles to produce something listeners may not have heard before.

"I'm a lover of all good music, and I have a really great band with me that is able to go into a different place," Vasandani said. "The way I sing is one thing, and the way the band plays is another. And I think when you put the two together, you're going to get a nice, fresh take at

something you thought was maybe a little more traditional."

Vasandani has won DownBeat magazine's 2010 Rising Star Award and has opened for jazz trumpeter Chris Botti and pop singer Joan Osborne.

Tickets for the event are $30, but less for museum members and students. To purcahse tickets, or for more information, contact thePerforming Arts Ticket Office at 797-0055 or 800-754-0797. You can also buy tickets online at www.mwpai.org.
