National Grid crews have been busy restoring power after strong thunderstorms and high winds moved through the area Wednesday evening.

At the peak of the storm, about 63,000 customers in upstate New York lost power, including 18,000 in the Mohawk Valley Region.

National Grid says they expect the majority of their customers in the Utica-Rome area to have their power turned back on by the end of the day.

More than 300 crews are dedicated to the restoration efforts.
