National Grid is warning customers about a new phone scam in Central and Upstate New York.

Scammers are telling customers they need to provide personal financial information and make immediate payment arrangements to avoid shut-off.

The company says they do make calls to customers who have past-due accounts but, if you are uncertain about the identity of someone who claims to be a representative of National Grid, hang up and call the company directly.
