Local singer and guitar player Shawn 'Big Sexy' Smith of the band 'Showtime' and the duo 'Poor Tim' was selected by 'Team CeeLo' on Monday night's episode of NBC's The Voice.

"I'm from Utica, New York," Shawn exclaimed when Judge CeeLo asked about him.

It was well known that Smith, who performed earlier in the year on First News with Keeler in the Morning, auditioned for The Voice; but, it was unknown whether or not he made the cut.

Smith performed the song "Chicken Fried" by the Zac Brown Band and CeeLo was the last judge looking for a performer. Shawn Smith was the final act to perform and CeeLo had already rejected several acts; ultimately, he chose Smith to advance.

It was the final night of Blind Auditions on the program and Smith will next compete in the Battle Round where cast members can be voted off the show.
