A New Hartford businessman was sentenced in U.S District Court in Syracuse today for filing false tax returns.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 57-year old Dino Tucciarone will serve three years of probation and perform 60 hours of community service.

Tucciarone pleaded guilty in May to one count of filing a false federal income tax return.

He admitted that he earned substantial income over and above what he reported on his personal federal income tax returns from 2007 to 2009.

The unreported income resulted in additional tax as well as penalties and interest due to the IRS totaling more than $284,000.00.
