A New Hartford man is facing several charges, including attempted robbery, following an incident at a home in New Hartford.

New Hartford Police say 37-year old Mark Palmano allegedly held a knife to the victim's throat and demanded a large sum of money.

They say the victim, who knew Palmano, was able to flee and call 9-1-1.

Following a vehicle chase that was called off due to Palmano's erratic driving and weather conditions, police took Palmano into custody at his home.

Police say they allegedly found a scoped rifle containing a loaded magazine, two rifle magazines holding 20 rounds of ammunition, 8 rifle magazines capable of holding 10 rounds of ammunition and extra ammunition bag in Palmano's car.

They say they say the magazines were loaded with a total of 96 rounds of ammunition.

Palmano is facing other charges including criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and unlawfully fleeing a police officer.
