The New Hartford Police Department is helping local residents get rid of their unwanted prescription drugs.

On the morning of April 27th, starting at 10, officers will accept expired and unused medications at their station on Kellogg Road and at the New Hartford Shopping Center.

Drugs will be accepted at the Police Station until 2 and at the shopping center until 3.

State Senator Joe Griffo is also sponsoring a free Electronics Recycling and Document Shredding event at the Shopping Center, from 10 until 3.

The drop-off program is part of the Drug Enforcement Administration's "Drug Take Back Day."
