Utica, NY (WIBX) - State DEC officials launched a new proposal that would allow the use of crossbows during big game hunting season in all shotgun and muzzleloader areas.

New York State DEC Commissioner Joe Martens says, "The proposed changes will provide sportsmen and sportswomen with new opportunities while hunting afield this coming fall."

If passed, this new proposal would allow hunters who are physically disabled to hunt with a modified longbow as long as they have the proper certifications.

You can find more information about this proposal on the DEC's website.
