Utica, NY (WIBX) - The 2010 New York State Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act has entered its next phase.

Jamie Tuttle, school recycling coordinator for the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority, says, as of now, businesses are mainly impacted.

"It's enacted that all businesses, private and public corporations, not-for-profits, any government entity, tsolid waste anymore."

Among the products banned for disposal are computers, printers, scanners and televisions.

Starting in 2015, all New Yorkers, including residents, will not be allowed to dispose of their electronic waste.

The Solid Waste Authority says electronics may be recycled at their Utica waste facility or to stores such as Best Buy.
