The recently passed state budget includes nearly $122,000 for Oneida, Herkimer and Madison Counties for the new 2-1-1 telephone system.
The announcement was made by Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.

The 2-1-1 system is staffed by specialists who can quickly refer callers to appropriate organizations or programs dealing with health and human services.

2-1-1 Mid York began a test run in January, with the official program launch in February.

The state funding represents about 55-percent of the local cost for the new system.

The service is now operating in every region of the state.  2-1-1 services throughout New York State were provided $1.25 million in the current state budget
