ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A New York City-to-Albany walk for more school funding is nearing the finish.

A group of students, teachers, parents and advocates is scheduled to arrive in Albany Tuesday, ending a 10-day, 150-mile journey.

The walk is meant to draw attention to billions of dollars that organizers say the state owes schools under a 2006 court settlement.

The walkers plan to rally outside the Court of Appeals at 1 p.m. Tuesday, joined by supporters from the New York State United Teachers, Parent Teacher Association, Alliance for Quality Education and others.

A group of bicyclists who are pedaling 350 miles from Buffalo plans to catch up with the walkers for the final leg of their journey.
