New York Consumer Confidence Up In May
Loudonville, NY (WIBX) - New York State consumer confidence was up 2.7% in May. That's according to the latest poll from the Siena Research Institute.
New York's overall consumer confidence of 67.6% is 6.7 points below the nation's consumer confidence level of just over 74%.
Siena Research Institute Director Douglas Lonnstrom says the optimism we saw as 2011 began has eroded, with the index down nine points from January's high.
The poll also found 67% of New Yorkers say current gasoline prices are having a very serious or somewhat serious impact on their financial condition.
