BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — New York Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia is scheduled to talk about the state of education in New York at the State School Boards Association's annual convention.

Among topics likely to come up during Friday's session in Buffalo are high-stakes testing, the Common Core learning standards and teacher evaluations.

Later Friday, School Boards Association Director Timothy Kremer will moderate a discussion on educational equity. Regents Chancellor Betty Rosa, Buffalo School Board President Barbara Nevergold and Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes are among panelists.
