New York Man Convicted In Crashes That Killed Man, Injured Another
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) — A 42-year-old upstate New York man has been convicted in hit-and-run crashes that left one person dead and another injured last year.
The Times Union of Albany reports (http://bit.ly/2aKXHgL ) a judge found Adimu Goodwin guilty of assault and manslaughter charges Tuesday in the crashes that killed 29-year-old Jerry Faine and injured a 61-year-old man.
Prosecutors say Goodwin hit a man on Aug. 14 in Schenectady and tried to flee the scene. That's when police say he hit Faines and dragged him 500 feet before hitting a curb.
Goodwin ditched the van and ran into a cemetery before police say he turned himself in three days later.
He faces up to 25 years behind bars when he's sentenced on Oct. 12.
