ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A 58-year-old man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for making child pornography with two young girls in the greater Albany area.

Judge Mae D'Agostino imposed the maximum sentence on Robert V. McLaughlin, of Mechanicville.

He was indicted Aug. 29 and pleaded guilty to two charges in November.

Authorities say McLaughlin admitted that between 2012 and 2014, he coerced the two pre-pubescent girls to engage in sexually explicit conduct so he could produce pornography that he distributed by computer.

Prosecutors recommended the 60-year sentence, saying he's a threat to children, particularly young girls, and that he irreparably damaged the lives of the two young victims and their families.

In requesting leniency, his defense attorneys said the ex-Marine has medical issues and was abused growing up in foster homes.
