ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A New York man who fatally stabbed his girlfriend 47 times in front of her 7-year-old daughter has been convicted of murder.

A Monroe County judge delivered the verdict in Rochester Wednesday following a non-jury trial.

It was the third trial and conviction for 37-year-old Donyell McKenzie in the 2006 killing. Two previous convictions were overturned because of procedural or defense issues.

Investigators say McKenzie and 23-year-old Tyffany Porter were arguing in their home when McKenzie stabbed Porter and fled, leaving Porter's daughter with the body. The child called 911.

McKenzie faces at least 15 years in prison when he is sentenced later this month. He's already served more than 10 years.
