ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — State police say they dealt with nearly 1,100 crashes and issued more than 600 travel ban tickets during the snowstorm last week in New York.

They also responded to more than 1,500 disabled or abandoned vehicles.

Of the crashes, 81 resulted in injuries, including three deaths.

Buses and trucks were banned on the western section of the Thruway during the storm that dumped more than 20 inches of snow in Buffalo, with biting cold and high winds.

A tractor-trailer whose driver ignored the ban jackknifed west of Rochester Wednesday afternoon, causing a 19-vehicle pileup.
