Utica, NY (WIBX) - A new poll by Zogby International shows President Obama's approval rating increased by 4 points since December.Last month Obama's approval rating was at an all-time low of 39%, and went up to 43%. Likely voters were also polled about the job performance of Congress and that number jumped from 12% to 21%.

The poll also asked if voters approved of the direction the country is headed and the results show that number went up from 22% to 29%. Also, among Democrats, the President's job performance number went up by 13%. However, among independents the poll reveals a steady decline in overall approval. According to the new poll that number continues to slip--this time, by 4 points since the last interactive polling was conducted in early December. And, the overall approval ratings from Republicans on the current Administration remains at 7%.

Pollster John Zogby summarized the new findings in a statement saying, ""Democratic voters are pleased with both the President and Congress for their success at the close of the 2010 session.  However, independents apparently still need to be convinced. Now, with Republicans running the House, it's a whole new ballgame."  Officials with Zogby say 2,073 likely voters were polled nationwide for the results.
