An investigation is under way into the death of a driver at the Broome Tioga Sports Center and Raceway this weekend.

New York State Police say the 38-year-old driver partially exited the track at 3:40pm on Sunday, May 3, 2015, and hit some hay bales before the car rolled onto its side and back onto the track.

A second driver was unable to stop in time.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center.

State Police say the man’s name is not being released until family is notified.

The driver suffered head and neck injuries in the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
