Jonathon Niese (3-2) allowed just five hits and a run over 7 2/3 innings on Wednesday afternoon, helping the Mets take the Pirates 3-1, and two of three in the series.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis had two hits and an RBI, while David Wright and Lucas Duda each had a hit and an RBI to help New York end its road trip 3-3, improving to 24-20 on the season.

Frank Francisco had strike outs in the ninth to pick up 12th save - marking back to back games with a 1-2-3 innings for a save.

Pittsburgh's Charlie Morton (2-5) was dealt the loss, giving up all eight Met hits and three runs.

The Mets return to Citi Field to begin a series with San Diego Padres on Thursday night (7:10).
