No charges will be filed against the Dolgeville man whose young daughter died after being left inside a vehicle outside a home on Ranson Street.

Herkimer County District Attorney Jeffrey Carpenter says based on the facts and evidence in the case, Alan Lyon 's conduct does not reach the threshold for criminal liability.

Lyon told authorities he forgot his daughter in the vehicle on June 4th.

An autopsy found 15-month old Sophia Lyon died of hyperthermia and dehydration due to exposure to a hot confined environment.

Carpenter says 21 children have died so far this year in the United States from heatstroke sustained in a similar manner as Sophia's.
