Nominations Sought For 2014 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal

It's time to pick the Grand Marshal for Utica's 2014 St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Once again parade organizers are giving you the chance to nominate who gets to wear the crown next March.

If you know someone who deserves to be considered, a letter of nomination should include a brief background of the nominee and detail their contribution to Irish causes in the Mohawk Valley, citing reasons why your nominee would be the proper choice for Grand Marshal.

"We like to get input from everyone out there because it's impossible for us to be aware of every possible candidate," said Parade Director Judy Weeks. "The main consideration is how they've contributed to the local Irish community."

The deadline for nominations is December 30. The Grand Marshal will be announced on January 26, 2014 at the 'Halfway to the Great American Irish Festival Hooley.'

The Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick's Day parade also serves as the honorary chairperson of the Great American Irish Festival.
