Anders Behring Breivik, the 32-year-old Norwegian nationalist who has reportedly confessed to Friday’s bombing in Oslo and the horrific shootings at a youth camp, wrote a 1500-page manifesto before going on the killing rampage that left almost 100 dead.

Blake Hounshell, managing editor of Foreign Policy, has read the tome, titled ’2083—A European Declaration of Independence,’ and has been sharing excerpts of the manifesto on his magazine’s website and via his Twitter account. According to Hounshell, Breivik cites Europe’s “Islamic colonization” as one reason for the attacks and says he used using video games as combat training.

Breivik is due to be arraigned on Monday.
