NY Announces Awards For 1,200 Unions Of Supportive Housing

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York officials have announced awards to organizations across the state to help establish 1,200 units of supportive housing for people at risk of homelessness.

The awards follow June requests for proposals to fund service and operating expenses under five-year renewable contracts.

They include 79 projects upstate and 42 in New York City.

New York State Homes and Community Renewal and the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance say they will work with housing providers to get needed capital funding to complete projects.

Announced funding includes $150 million under a memorandum signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in June, $63 million from the Homeless Housing and Assistance Program and other capital resources, $230 million of federal tax credit equity and $94 million in service and operating contracts.
