HARTFORD, N.Y. (AP) — A 59-year-old upstate New York man remains hospitalized with serious injuries suffered when the all-terrain vehicle he was operating crashed, killing his 69-year-old wife.

State police tell The Post-Star of Glens Falls (http://bit.ly/2mdjqEh ) that Eileen Courville, of South Glens Falls, was getting on the back of the vehicle Saturday afternoon when it unexpectedly accelerated in reverse with her husband driving it.

Troopers say the ATV hit a small embankment in the Washington County town of Hartford, 50 miles northeast of Albany. Both were pinned under the overturned vehicle but Mark Courville managed to call 911 on his cellphone.

A neighbor lifted the vehicle off the couple, but Eileen Courville was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her husband is listed in serious condition at Albany Medical Center.

Troopers say their investigation is continuing but not charges are expected.
