NY Police To Discuss Probe Into Chinese Student’s Slaying
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities have scheduled a news conference to discuss what they say are new developments in the investigation into the fatal shooting of a Syracuse University student from China earlier this fall.
The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says Sheriff Gene Conway will hold a news conference Friday morning at his headquarters in Syracuse to give an update on the slaying of Yuan Xiaopeng (YOO'-en SHE'-ow-puhng).
The 23-year-old was a junior studying mathematics at Syracuse University when he was found shot to death on Sept. 30 at an apartment complex in suburban DeWitt. He was from Qingdao (cheeng-DOW') on China's east coast and had been in Syracuse since 2011.
No arrests have been reported.
The sheriff's office says no information will be released until the news conference.
