ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York state is putting up $10 million to support energy efficiency at industrial and manufacturing facilities.

The state Energy Research and Development Authority is using the money for two initiatives: on-site energy managers and strategic energy management.

The agency says the initiatives are expected to save nearly $13 million annually through efficiency measures.

NYSERDA (nye-SER'-duh) says the state's industrial and manufacturing base accounts for 7.4 percent of total energy use in New York, and energy is one of the largest operational costs for manufacturers.

The agency is putting up $7 million in cost-share funding for 30 facilities to demonstrate the benefits of hiring a dedicated full-time on-site energy manager.

It will provide $3 million for continuous improvement demonstrations at 20 manufacturing facilities with high energy usage and costs.
