SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a teenager wanted for the fatal shooting of a man in Syracuse last year has been captured in Florida and returned to central New York.

Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler says Tuesday that 17-year-old Khani Johnson, of Syracuse, was tracked down by U.S. Marshals and taken into custody Jan. 20 in the Tampa area.

Johnson was brought back to Syracuse and charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He's being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center. It couldn't be learned from authorities if he has a lawyer.

Police say Johnson shot 39-year-old Jason Davis on the city's south side late on the night of Dec. 14. He died a short time later at Upstate University Hospital after arriving in a private vehicle.

Police haven't released a possible motive for the shooting.
