NYC Judge Blocks Bloomberg’s Ban on Super-Sized Sodas

It was a ‘Super-Sized’ decision handed down by a Manhattan Supreme Court Judge which has blocked Mayor Bloomberg’s law making it illegal to sell extra large sugary drinks within the confines of New York City. The new law was supposed to go into effect on Tuesday, but Justice Milton A. Tingling Jr. of State Supreme Court in Manhattan said the new restriction was “arbitrary and capricious.”
“It applies to some but not all food establishments in the city,” said the Justice Tingling in his ruling. “It excludes other beverages that have significantly higher concentrations of sugar sweeteners and/or calories.”
