The New York State Division of Consumer Protection will be at the Mohawk Valley Home Show this weekend to provide tips on how to keep children safe from unsecured furniture.

They'll offer "Tip Over" prevention education to parents, grandparents and other caregivers of small children.

DCP will also share the options available to secure potentially hazardous furniture, TV's and other appliances.

“Every thirty minutes in the United States, tipped furniture or a falling television sends a child to the emergency room,” said New York Secretary of State Rossana Rosado. “And tragically, a child in the United States dies every two weeks as a result of unsecured furniture in the home. I invite residents of the Mohawk Valley to take advantage of this important opportunity and stop by our booth to learn how to secure your furniture and keep your kids from danger.”

The Mohawk Valley Home Show takes place on Saturday and Sunday at the Jorgensen Athletic Center at Mohawk Valley Community College.
