Fort Drum, NY (WIBX) - The number of violent incidents involving soldiers continues to dominate the news. Today, we're learning about another case involving a Fort Drum soldier who allegedly pointed a rifle at a house guest yesterday.

New York State Police say they arrested the 26-year-old man on 2nd Degree Menacing and 4th Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon charges. They say Vincent D. Herzog got upset with his roommate's friend during their attempt to secure personal property from the apartment the two men shared. After the victim refused to leave, it's alleged that Herzog went to his bedroom, grabbed the unloaded rifle, and threatened the victim with it.

Officials say Herzog had two other weapons in the apartment without a permit and is facing two additional counts of 4th Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon  for illegally possessing the two hand guns. He was taken to Jefferson County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000.
