Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Oneida County Health Department is receiving a $5,000 grant to develop diabetes prevention education and training.

Diabetes effects nearly 24-million Americans and it's estimated that one in every three Americans could be affected by the year 2050.

Also, the Health Department will partner with the Central Association from the Blind and Visually Impaired to particpate in a 2-day training in Washington, D.C.

The training program called "Diabetes Today" will help local officials develop interventions to prevent and reduce the incidence of diabetes.
