Off Duty Utica Police Officer Injured In Accident

A Utica Police officer is recovering after being seriously injured in an accident on Route 49 in Marcy.

Utica Police say officer Bryon Combellack, who was off-duty, was cut off by another vehicle at Routes 49 and 790.

They say Combellack swerved to avoid a collision and struck safety barrels in the road.

His vehicle went up and over the barrels and over the concrete barriers, with the vehicle falling about 40 to 50 feet to the ground.

A passing State Trooper spotted the tail lights of the vehicle off the road about an hour or two after the accident.
