Representatives from the law enforcement community and elected officials gathered this morning for the dedication of the Officer Thomas Lindsey Memorial Highway.

Oriskany Street in Utica now memorializes Lindsey, a UPD officer who was shot and killed during a traffic stop in 2007.

Utica Police Chief Mark Williams says the re-dedication of the road will serve as a constant reminder not only to the police officers but also the community he served.

Large signs designating the highway are located at the eastern and western edges of Utica.

Legislation to name the highway was sponsored by Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi
