Its car-deer collision season and authorities are asking motorists to slow down to reduce damage.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that about 1 million car-deer accidents occur on American highways each year, killing 200 people, injuring nearly 10,000 more and causing about $1 billion in vehicle damage.

Deer-vehicle accidents peak in November. Motorists are advised to keep an eye out for deer crossing the road and if a crash is inevitable, you should hit the deer and not swerve to avoid it.
