With a High Wind Warning in place this afternoon and overnight across the Mohawk Valley, area residents who place recyclables out tonight are being asked to hold them a week, if possible.

Officials with the Oneida Herkimer Solid Waste Authority say garbage and recyclable collection scheduled for tonight will go as planned, but to avoid having the recyclable bins from being tossed and tipped - creating a mess - it may be best to wait until next week to place them on the curb.

Jamie Tuttle with OHSWA says this applies to residents in Dolgeville, Frankfort, Herkimer, Ilion. Mohawk and, especially Utica. That's because Utica's orange recyclable bins don't have lids and items in those bins will be more likely to be ejected by the wind, she said.
