One Person Dies In House Fire In Herkimer County

One person is dead following a fire at a home on Hoertz Road in the Herkimer County Town of Manheim.

State Police say the house was completely destroyed in the Wednesday morning fire.

They say human remains was found in what is believed to be the rear door area of the home.

No positive identification has been made.

The victm was taken to a local hospital and an autopsy will be performed at a later date.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
