A Syracuse man was killed early Thursday morning in a two-vehicle accident on the Thruway near Exit 33 in Verona.

State Police say 26-year old Arthur Hunter was outside of his car attempting to make mechanical repairs when the vehicle was struck from behind by a box truck.

Troopers say the car was parked along the shoulder of the road with its hazard lights on.

Hunter was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three passengers in the vehicle, ages 17, 18 and 19, were transported to University Hospital in Syracuse with minor injuries.

The driver of the box truck, 42-year old Remus Parish of Cleveland, Ohio, was taken to Oneida Healthcare with minor injuries.

He was ticketed for moving from a lane unsafely.

The investigation is continuing.
