An Oneida business owner is facing charges for falsely reporting an incident to City Police. Jennifer Mott had allegedly claimed that an armed robbery took place at her diner, Mott's Place, on January 13th.

Following an investigation it was determined that Mott's claim was false. According to the Oneida Dispatch, Mott is very apologetic about her actions. Their story states,

Mott explained that two days prior to Friday, Jan. 13, she lost a bank bag. She said she spent those two days “tearing apart” her house and car in hopes the bag would turn up. After two nights she described as “sleepless,” Mott called the police early Friday, Jan. 13 and reported that she had been robbed by a man with a gun because she feared her business partner Jennifer Colvin’s reaction to the missing money.

Jennifer Mott is facing charges for Falsely Reporting an Incident and Providing a False Written Statement. Oneida City Police want to thank law enforcement partners in the investigation and the community members who offered countless tips throughout the course of the investigation.
