The Oneida City School District has sold the former Oneida Castle Elementary School building to MEID Construction for $225,000

The Sherrill-based company plans to use the property to house its offices and to build senior housing.

MEID Construction and Alliance Apartments are converting the classroom wing into nine senior friendly 2-bedroom flats, along with a community living room for larger gatherings.

Residents voted to sell the property in December.

The school closed in 2011. Since the closure, the property had been costing the school district $40,000 a year to maintain.
